Moth In Memory

Moth In Memory cover art

I hear singing on the water
There’s a rustle in the trees
The sleeping ocean took my daughter
Can you bring her to me please

I’ve seen people on their knees
Heard the crazy things they said
They’re waiting for the final freeze
But I hear silence in my head

You didn’t get a warning
There’s no mighty light to guide you
When you wake up in the morning
And touch that empty place inside you

There’s brown bubbles in my teacup
Dishes in my sink
I’m still trying to wake up
Convince my eyes to blink

There’s whisky in my morning eyes
Caffeine in my drink
Just waiting for my big surprise
Tryin’ to get my eyes to think

You didn’t get a warning
There’s no mighty light to guide you
When you wake up in the morning
And touch that empty place inside you

There’s a place my heart has been
I don’t remember now
I got to get back there again
Somehow

There are places that I’d rather be
Different places than I planned
Something’s breathing very close to me
There’s a moth sleeping in my hand

There’s a moth sleeping in my memory
Two bodies lying in the sand
One helicopter spinning in a circle
Searching for a place to land

You didn’t get a warning
There’s no mighty lord to guide you
When you wake up in mourning
And touch that empty space beside you

There’s a moth in memory
Things will never be the same
You went searching for the real truth
Finding the real pain
